Privacy Policy for Slumbr
Last Updated: August 9, 2025
Introduction
Welcome to Slumbr ("we," "our," "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. This Privacy Policy explains our practices concerning the information we process to provide the Slumbr mobile application (the "App").
This policy will cover:
- Our core privacy principles.
- How we handle your Apple HealthKit data.
- The third-party services we use and why.
- Your rights and control over your data.
By using our App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Guiding Principle: Your Data is Yours
Slumbr is built on the principle that your personal and health data should remain private and under your control. We do not create user accounts, and we do not collect or store any of your sensitive health information on our servers. All of your primary health and sleep data remains exclusively on your device.
2. Information Processed Locally on Your Device (Apple HealthKit)
To provide our sleep analysis features, Slumbr uses Apple's HealthKit framework. With your explicit consent, we request read-only access to certain data categories. This data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
The types of data we read from HealthKit include:
- Sleep: Sleep Analysis data, including sleep stages (Awake, REM, Core, Deep).
- Heart Metrics: Heart Rate, Resting Heart Rate, and Heart Rate Variability (HRV).
- Vital Signs: Respiratory Rate, Blood Oxygen Saturation, and Body Temperature.
- User Characteristics: Date of Birth, Biological Sex, and Height, which are used to provide more accurate, age-appropriate sleep analysis.
- Activity Metrics: Active Energy Burned, Basal Energy Burned, Mindful Minutes, and Time in Daylight, which provide context for your sleep quality.
You are in full control of this data. You can grant or revoke our access at any time through the Apple Health app on your iOS device.
3. Third-Party Services
To provide certain features, we use services from third-party providers. These services have their own privacy policies and handle data according to their terms.
a. Subscription Management (RevenueCat)
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. When you subscribe to Slumbr Premium, RevenueCat processes your purchase and manages your subscription status. To do this, RevenueCat creates a secure, anonymous, and randomized user identifier. This identifier is not linked to any of your personal information or HealthKit data. We do not share your health data with RevenueCat. For more information, please review RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
b. Embedded Content (YouTube)
The App includes embedded videos from YouTube to provide you with sleep-related content like nature sounds and meditations. When you play these videos within the App, you are using YouTube's services.
By viewing this content, you are subject to the Google Privacy Policy. Google may collect data such as your IP address, device information, and viewing activity as described in their policy. We do not have access to or control over the data collected by Google.
4. Data Storage and Security
HealthKit Data: All data read from HealthKit is processed and stored locally within the App's secure sandbox on your device. This data is protected by the security measures of your iOS device. If you delete the App, this data is also removed.
Subscription Data: Your subscription status is managed by RevenueCat and associated with an anonymous identifier. We do not have access to your Apple ID or payment information.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Because we do not store your personal data on our servers, your data lives on your device, under your control.
- Right to Consent and Withdraw Consent: You have the right to grant or revoke consent for the App to access your HealthKit data at any time via the Apple Health app.
- Right to Deletion: You can delete the data the App has stored by deleting the App from your device.
- Right to Access and Portability: You can access and export your health data directly from the Apple Health app.
For users in regions with specific privacy laws (like the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), we are committed to upholding the principles of data minimization, user control, and transparency.
6. Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us immediately.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on our website.
